Quasha is self-described as, “A collection of a lot of things. Loquacious, outgoing, spunky, usually the center of attention, oh and a little hood.” An aspiring model who's worked with many photographers, choose me because it was important to her to have a one of a kind piece of art that speaks to who she is. Not only for her portfolio, but also for the wall above her sofa.
To get a better understanding of her concept I asked how she wanted the final image to look and feel. "FREE, STATUESQUE, FANCY!" She excitedly replied.
Free flowing next to nothing was the clothing concept. Statuesque would cover her pose. For fancy and free-flowing, the obvious choice was my parachute skirt. Next to nothing was covered by a lace bodysuit. The location and lighting had to be simple. My intention was to make her the center of attention. I used two lights, one for her and the other to bring the skirt to life. Her front yard was the perfect location because it was surrounded by trees that blocked out neighboring houses and cars. This ensured there would be no competing elements in the image that I’d have to later remove in Photoshop.
To get this shot it took six arms tired from simulating the
wind, and a couple of composited layers. This is a piece that I am very proud
of, it also hangs in my home office.
